The university Grants Commision (UGC) de-recognised The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) on 16th june 2015, Thursday.

UGC de-recognised the Karnataka state open
university for its irregularities on offering the courses beyond the norms of
territorial jurisdictions and also offering technical courses without the
recognition of affiliated bodies.
UGC claimed
that the state run university has voilated the UGC rules not followed any of the norms of UGC and the
university also continued to offer technical courses though prior notice been
given to the university in 2013 regarding. KSOU has continued taking admission
for technical courses without the recognition of affiliated bodies and the
university has spread its study center through private university all around
the nation. It is also noted that the university has given the private
affiliation not only to offer courses but also the authority to conduct
examination, provide results and printing of markscards.
The karnataka state open university claimed that only technical and proffesional courses had been de-recognised by the UGC and that there was no threat to its regular programmes.
Appealing the students not to panic, Vice-chancellor M.G Krishnan and the Vice-Chancellor of University Of Mysore K.S Rangappa announced that the KSOU would approach the UGC to continue its recognition , arguing that the courses in question had already been withdrawn.
